Home Gym Pros and Cons
Home Gym Pros:
+ Your space so you can do what you want. Your music, your posters, your atmosphere. You can use chalk, you can sing, dance and grunt, you are the boss.
+ Once it's bought there's little more expense a part from repairs, cleaning costs and electricity.
+Train whenever you like, it's a 24 hours gym as far as you're concerned.
+ No more waiting for other people to finish using equipment, the busy times at the gym can be a pain.
+ You don't have to pay for the gym space rent, staff and equipment you don't use.
+ No pressure to lift heavier weights than you should (ego Lifting).
Home Gym Cons:
- Can cost a lot up front.
- Requires adequate space.
- You have to do the cleaning.
- You have to pay and sort out repairs.
- It can be anti-social without having people around to talk to.
- You're not splitting the cost between all the other members.
- No one is there to spot you or cheer you on.
Thing to consider:
> Is your gym warm enough during the coldest months?
> Is your gym going to be quiet enough to not upset the neighbours?
> Will it be demotivating or motivating training on your own in your own space?
> Are you committed enough to make it worth it?
> Is it safe enough - are you going to get trapped under a barbell with no one to help?
> Consider the extent of your home gym. Would a set of adjustable dumbells do for you or do you want to fully kit out a designated area of your house?
